Story

Thank you for visiting our page, we really need your help and support. Gemma (my sister in law) and I are taking part in the Big Fun Run 5K Challenge in London Victoria Park on Saturday 25th September 2010 to help raise money for our chosen charity - Meningitis UK. We have chosen to support Meningitis UK because my life long friend Jennifer Smith and her husband Mark, lost their 9 and a half month old son, Taylor, to Meningococcal Septicaemia, with early signs of Meningitis B on 15th March 2009. Jennifer and Mark have embarked on a fund raising mission to help eradicate this devastating disease and we want to support them in their efforts so that we can do all we can to ensure no other parents, friends or relatives have to go through what Jennifer and Mark have. Meningitis UK has a single focus - to find a vaccine to protect against all forms of meningitis and associated diseases. Meningitis UK's 'Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign' aims to raise £7 million to help fund cutting-edge research to develop a vaccine against Meningitis B, which causes almost 90% of cases in the UK and for which there is currently no vaccine. Please do what you can to help us whether it be 50p or £50, every penny raised will help us get that bit closer to finding a vaccine. 100% of the money raised through this Forever Fund will go towards the vital work of Meningitis UK. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations. Julie & Gemma http://www.meningitisuk.org/

Well our 5k run was a week ago now. It was a brilliant day, the sun was shining and Gemma and I were raring to go. We completed the 5k course in 40mins and were really please with that time especially since neither of us are seasoned runners! We have also done fantastically well with out fund raising so thank you to all that donated. We are currently 123% of the target we set and we still have more to collect. Our just giving page is the most up to date page but the money is gradually filtering through to show on this page. I've added photos to the gallery here and on just giving and facebook. Thank you again for all your support! Julie and Gemma
